Rodeo Games

Since the 1870s, rodeos have been the “Olympics” of cattle ranching skills and the peaceful way for wranglers to win bragging rights for their ranches. In researching the history of rodeos, we uncovered some rodeo games that test each other’s skills at herding, roping, wrestling, tying and riding but, interestingly, without horses and cattle. Groups divide into ranches and participate in a fun rodeo skills contest along with cowboy-themed challenges that will be forever branded in your memory.

What does a Rodeo Games program look like?

Wrangler Warm-Ups:  Cowpokes get warmed up with a fun interactive icebreakers while forming their ranch teams along with their ranch names, brands, yells and line dances.

The Cowboy Way:  Sharpen your spurs in a series of ranch hand challenges that will hone your rodeo skills for the upcoming Rodeo Ranch Off.

Rodeo Ranch Off:  It’s time to put on your boots, chaps and hats and bring your best swagger. Don’t let your ranch be branded “Big Hats, No Cattle.”  Some of Old West era rodeo games you’ll likely play include rattlesnake wrestling, wrangler roping, cow pie stomping, and quick draw contests.  Teams earn points with the best teamwork winning the most rodeo points.

Top Ranch Honors:  The scores are calculated and, despite all the last minute cheatin’ and horse tradin’, one group of wranglers wins claim to the Best Rodeo Ranch in These Parts with a Yippee Ki Yi Yay!

***Programs held at Group Dynamix can take advantage of added challenges on the largest indor team adventure course in the USA.***
